The World Expo takes place once every five years. This exhibition showcases the world its greatest innovations of the moment for a period of six months. Leadax has the honour to waterproof the Dutch Pavilion at World Expo 2020 Dubai with its circular building materials, such as flashing and world’s most sustainable flat roofing. PVB waste from laminated glass, such as car windows, is used by Leadax as raw material for their recyclable products.

The waterproofing of the Dutch Pavilion is part of an exclusive sponsor agreement between Leadax and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Leadax also organizes various symposia during the World Expo for their international network at the pavilion. During these symposia the subject “Circularity & Profitability in Construction” will be the main theme. The Dutch Pavilion will be fully characterised by sustainability, circularity and innovation. The building is designed to be deconstructed at the end of the World Expo and the materials can be reused.

Circularity
This is a dream come true for Roeland van Delden, CEO of Leadax: “For almost thirty years I have been travelling to the Middle-East to do business with waterproofing products and still do. However now I come back to show the future of waterproofing and roofing. To be part of this transition from a linear to a circular economy makes me proud.” Independent aging tests have shown that Leadax’ products last at least 30 years. They can be recycled up to 7 times, which turns PVB waste into a circular flow that was previously incinerated or dumped.

Eiffel Tower
The Expo 2020 Dubai is the 35th edition of the World Expo, which was first organized in 1851. It now takes place in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Famous examples from the past include the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Atomium in Brussels, which were once built for the World Exhibition. Furthermore, innovations like the electric locomotive were introduced at the World Expo. “This grand event stands for technical, social and sustainable progress of humanity. It is therefore an enormous honour for Leadax to join these renowned predecessors.”, says Bob Oostelbos, Global Director Business Development & Public Affairs at Leadax.

The Expo 2020 Dubai takes place from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. It is expected the exhibition welcomes more than 20 million visitors.
