Nominations to participate in BigMat Group’s “Building for sport” were opened on 23 April: one of the most important initiatives in support of sport, linked to proximity and solidarity, values that have always belonged to BigMat, since its establishment .

The international group, leader in Italy and Europe in the distribution of materials for building and renovating, has in the past been the protagonist of many important sponsorship campaigns – Mascalzone Latino for sailing, the first division cycling team FDJ, the Italian national football team , to name a few – and even the individual BigMat members, in Italy and abroad, support local sports teams of the most varied sports disciplines.

So BigMat, as a proximity partner deeply committed to the local economic and social fabric and convinced of the strength of being a team, now takes the field sponsoring in the next season (2020/2021) about 100 amateur sports clubs under 13 and under 15 in basketball , providing free uniforms (signed by the premium brand Spalding) for over 2,300 young members.

This is one of the ways in which BigMat Italia, even in a moment of uncertainty, wants to make its contribution to the territory in which it operates and in which the daily work of the individual companies that make up the Group is inextricably intertwined with the life of the community and customers: craftsmen, businesses, families and young people, to be able to start again by supporting the future of the new generations and the values of sport.

The amateur basketball clubs concerned can apply for the sponsorship of BigMat by registering online on the website
The closing of the registrations is set for May 14, while the selected ones will be announced on May 28: the list of clubs that will receive the BigMat uniforms will always be visible on the website

«This is a project on a European scale perfectly in line with the values of the brand – explains the communication manager, Teresa Gigliotti – that is closeness to customers in every aspect, declined above all in the concepts of proximity, solidarity but also conviviality and participation in sociality. The local footprint of BigMat, which has deep roots in the territory but also a global presence, is also reflected in this sponsorship project of sport closer to the context in which we operate every day. We support communities by focusing on the most amateur clubs and young people who are educated with the values of collaboration, mutual help, personal discipline, sharing, respect for the rules, tolerance and inclusion, all very close values to the way our Group operates ».
The initiative will take place in every European country where BigMat is present and focuses its attention on sports that are less practiced and often looking for resources: football in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Belgium; handball in France; basketball in Italy, Spain and Portugal.
«In such a delicate historical moment from the point of view of health and economics – concludes Gigliotti – we believe it is important to give our support to sports associations, in particular to small amateur sports clubs, forges of the next generation of young people whom start with renewed energy and optimism thinking about health and the future “.
