BigMat France Honours Material Innovation at 2025 Innovation Trophies

Wednesday 30 april 2025

Building materials retailer BigMat France recently hosted its annual Innovation Trophies. Events held on February 5th in Mâcon and February 13th in Poitiers brought together employees, suppliers, members, and store managers to share expertise and strengthen relationships within the industry. A key part of the event was the BigMarket participants’ vote for the most groundbreaking innovations in the construction materials sector.

BigMat France collaborates closely with innovative companies to equip its network of stores with solutions that address current needs and challenges in the housing sector. This year, two companies were recognised for their outstanding ingenuity:

Mirage Ceramiche: “Reuse to Renew” as an Example of Sustainability

Italian flooring and wall covering specialist Mirage Ceramiche presented its ReSource line, garnering significant appreciation. This innovative collection comprises over 60% recycled materials from previous production processes. Specifically, ReSource combines 39.8% carefully selected natural raw materials with 48.6% reclaimed materials and 11.6% thermally optimised components. Mirage demonstrates that high quality and functionality standards can go hand in hand with a significant reduction in the use of new natural resources and a strong focus on sustainable production.

Ursa: Recycled Textile Insulation as an Environmentally Friendly Alternative

Ursa, an expert in thermal and sound insulation, introduced its new, environmentally conscious UPTEX line. This insulation material is manufactured using 85% recycled raw materials sourced from mattresses and textiles, which are also collected and processed in France. Thanks to its polyester and cotton fibres, UPTEX insulation offers excellent thermal performance, resulting in comfortable temperatures in both summer and winter. The material is soft and flexible, making it easy to handle and install.

The recognition of Mirage Ceramiche and Ursa highlights the growing importance of sustainability and circularity within the construction materials sector. Both companies demonstrate concrete steps towards a more environmentally conscious future with their innovations.
