75 years of roofing experience

IMPERBEL has over 75 years of roofing experience. The story begins in 1932 with the creation of the company, a family business producing waterproofing mastic, located in Lot, south of Brussels, Belgium.
Activity accelerated in the 50s and 60s with new products such as cold adhesives, and through international expansion. The 70s saw the use of an innovative new membrane from Italy : DERBIGUM. Contractors’ services were also launched at that time. In 1978 DERBIGUM production began in Perwez, Belgium. This was followed four years later by an employee buyout of the plant.
In 1979 a DERBIGUM factory was built in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. During 2000-2001, subsidiaries were established in Germany, Switzerland and Poland. The year 2005 saw a general restructuring of the European market strengthening the group’s core activities and international development. In 2006, services were centralized at the group’s world headquarters in Lot, the starting point of the DERBIGUM story.

More than production

Today, DERBIGUM is an undisputed industry leader. With 350 employees, the company is present across Europe, and in the US, Africa and Asia. Yearly, three production sites – two in Belgium and one in the US – turn out 15 million m2 of DERBIGUM membranes and 3.5 million kg of liquid products.

Ultimate heavy duty membrane

DERBIGUM GC (general construction) is a tougher, heavier version of the DERBIGUM SP roofing membrane. It provides fail-safe waterproofing in general construction projects, such as roadbeds, ramps and decks; as a lining for viaducts, canals and reservoirs; or as moisture barrier for foundation walls and basements.
